Nestled in the Vale of Porlock, five miles west of Minehead, Exmoor Riding offers the unique opportunity to explore the wonderful countryside of Exmoor National Park, in the company of our amazing horses on our Horse Riding Holidays.  You will be staying in the relaxing ambience of our 600 year old farmhouse and surrounding barns, stables and our own Chapel of Ease.

 

We are one of the few barefoot horse riding centres in the country, offering in-hand breath energy connection for horse and rider, and bespoke holidays for intermediate and experiences riders who wish to escape back to nature and reconnect with yourself. for health and well-being.

THREE MOORLAND HALF DAY RIDES OVER CHALLENGING EXMOOR TERRAIN Plus a WORKSHOP

Arrival Days - Monday or Thursday

  • Three Nights B&B in single or double/twin room in our 15thC Farmhouse

  • Gentle Horse & Rider Workshop, Trust Breath Energy Connection Workshop, or Self Selection Herbs and Oils for Health

  • Three lunches/Cream Teas (evening meal not included)

  • MONDAY - THURSDAY or THURSDAY - SUNDAY; (No riding on a Monday)

  • £550 single, £900 double Badgers & Otters Rooms (shared bathroom)

  • ADDITIONAL NIGHTS £80 single, £100 double

  • Non-riders welcome

Day 1 - Arrive at our 15th Century Farmhouse B&B, West Lynch Farm, to settle in after your long journey, and relax ready for your riding holiday.  Evening meals are available in the local village of Porlock.

Day 2

Breakfast in our lovely dining room, then walk to the horse yard for 10am for your first 'Woodland' Ride through the woods, over streams, wandering through ancient history in local medieval villages exploring the foothills of Exmoor on one of our quality, gentle but responsive horses, riding to the famous village of Selworthy, or trail riding around the Vale of Porlock.   You will be challenged by woodland climbs and marvel at the amazing views over Exmoor and the Porlock Vale.   Approximately 8-10 miles of woodland and village riding straight from the farm.

 

Sandwich lunch available in the farmhouse or garden and afternoon free to enjoy the local area.

Day 3

Wake up to a full English breakfast, or cereal, yoghurt, toast and fruit to start your day ready for the morning ride of two and a half hours over to Webbers Post or onto the moor below Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor, ......through rivers, tracks, woods, and moor. this ride offers a different kind of habitat with rushing rivers to cross, long cantering tracks, and amazing views from this famous viewpoint. 

Sandwich lunch available.

During one afternoon we offer a Gentle Horse and Ride Workshop (or alternative workshop - see selection here) to include breathe with the horse, light touch, talk and communicate, walk in-hand and close connection training, join up, trust and touch connection, and liberty work.

Optional: Horse Agility (especially for youngsters); Yard Work; Walk with a horse for desensitisation and self selection herbs and plants; Self Selection Essential Oils

Day 4

A morning ride to suit your riding ability over the hills of North Hill, offering amazing views of South Wales, Porlock Vale and Dunkery Beacon, mainly woodland and moorland riding, approximately 10 miles’ riding, potentially with some fast canters, maybe 'joining up' with the wild Exmoor ponies which run free over the moor!  Lunch will be provided on return leaving you free to visit the local area or return home.

NB:  Routes may be subject to change according to weather and terrain, and riding abilities/ages of our riders.

Please note - there is no riding on a Monday, and wherever possible we try to give the horses another day off as well.

You will be asked to vacate your room before your 10am ride on the day of departure.  If you wish to stay additional nights please ask at the time of booking.

General Notes to all our rides and riding holidays:

Single guests welcome.

Riders must be able to do a rising trot and be comfortable and competent at canter on open moorland - intermediate & advanced - if riding ability is below this standard we will be unable to take you out.

Max weight 80kg/13st

Riding hats and boots, and long trousers essential. We have a few hats (PAS015 BSI) to borrow, but your own is recommended.

Maximum number of guest riders: 4 at any one time

Minimum age 14yrs - body protector for children recommended.
