This riding holiday is designed for the less confident rider and involves some shorter rides, riding support lessons, in-hand workshops and one longer ride. All riders are required to be able to walk, do a rising trot, and short canters. On these foundation blocks we can assist with building confidence, competence and control. This riding holiday involved individual tuition on a one-to-one or two people.
Day 1 - Arrive for lunch or shortly after in time for 2pm meet and greet your horse, followed by a riding assessment in the arena. Here you will be able to gain your self confidence with your horse, learn to ride with a gentle and allowing rein in a balanced way and enjoy a short ride into the woods and back.
Day 2 - Ride out through the woods to Selworthy and return with an ice-cream stop whenever possible. Beautiful woods, wonderful views and great horses. During this ride you will be able to work on your rising trot, and even canter in a standing canter position.
In the afternoon you will be able to participate in an in-hand session with your horses, learning to walk in hand gently, connecting through gentle energy, then progress to free-schooling, join up and horse agility
Day 3 - Another ride out over the hills, woods and streams on your final morning - the riding will very much depend on your own self-confidence and riding ability. We like all our riders to be able to do a standing canter to take the weight off the back of the horse, making it more comfortable for the horse and rider on our hilly terrain.
In the afternoon you can take your horse for a walk and discover the magic of walking through the woods together and letting him enjoy herbal snacks on the way, see what he selects, and learn about the power of herbs in self selection for animals. If the weather is not so good, you can enjoy working in the barn self selecting herbs and essential oils for health and well being and share with you some calming and connecting techniques.
Additional days/nights can be added to your itinerary if you wish to ride out the following day to reinforce your growing self confidence and connection. Price per person: £490 including light lunches. Limited to two people.
